CIRI announces call for research papers

ALBANY, NY — The Cleaning Industry Research Institute (CIRI) International recently placed its first call for research papers in advance of its spring 2016 Cleaning Science and Research Symposium.

CIRI requests proposals for research papers which show “application of cleaning science to advance professional cleaning practice and the public welfare.”

This event is made up of a two-day, midweek program, including a first afternoon and evening welcome reception followed by 1.5 days of informative meetings with time for questions, discussions and breakout sessions. Specific details of the 2016 Cleaning Science and Research Symposium, including date and location, will soon be announced.

IEQ, Mold & Disaster Restoration Conference scheduled

SEVEN SPRINGS, PA — The Healthy Buildings Summit, formerly the IAQ Training Institute Summer Break, will hold the IEQ, Mold & Disaster Restoration Conference September 30 through October 2, 2015.

This once-a-year conference offers an all-star lineup of speakers, live research during the conference and a full day of cleaning and restoration presentations.

Speakers include Jeff Siegel (keynote), Hung Cheung, Mike McGuinness, Kevin Kennedy, Peter Consigli, John Downey, Joe Hughes, Cliff Zlotnik and more.

The conference will take place at the Seven Springs Resort.

IICRC News and Updates

Will you be attending the IICRC Instructor’s Symposium, Certification Council meeting or board of directors meetings next month? The meeting dates, set to take place at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas, are as follows: Instructor’s Symposium, October 21-23; Certification Council meeting, October 23; IICRC board of directors meetings, October 24-25.

Coming soon! The new ANSI/IICRC S520 Professional Mold Remediation Standard, a procedural standard for the remediation of mold-damaged structures and contents, is expected to go to ANSI for approval this month. IICRC S520 is based on reliable remediation and restoration principles, research and practical experience. It attempts to combine essential academic principles with practical elements of water damage restoration for technicians facing “real-life” mold remediation challenges.

Call for members: The IICRC is accepting applications from anyone interested in helping to develop the following standards: BSR-IICRC S210 Standard and Reference Guide for Dimension Stone Maintenance and Restoration; BSR-IICRC S220 Hard Surface Floor Covering Inspection; and BSR-IICRC S300 Upholstery Cleaning.
