Rainbow International® of Lexington Helps Homeowner Recover From Winter Storm
NICHOLASVILLE, KY — With the first round of the Polar Vortex passing through much of the U.S. many homes sustained severe damage due to high levels of snow, ice and consistently low temperatures, which remained below-freezing for long periods.
Valarie King of Lexington, Ky., was no exception. When the cold weather storm passed through Kentucky her home sustained massive flooding, due to bursting pipes in her bathroom, resulting in thousands in damages.
“We had ceilings on two levels of our home that were leaking,” said King. “There was flooding on the first floor and basement due to multiple broken pipes in the upstairs bathroom.”
King reached out to a local restoration business in the area and was told they would be sending a technician out to inspect the damage, but he never showed. She contacted other restoration businesses in her area but was told it would be more than a week before she could receive services from them.
King called Rainbow International of Lexington, who was already experiencing an increase in the normal volume of calls due to the weather, who immediately dispatched two service technicians to her home to assess the damage.
King said that when dealing with water pouring in all around, it was nice to hear a friendly voice on the phone.
“The Rainbow International team arrived two hours before they were expected,” said King. “They were polite, courteous and explained, to me and my daughter, what issues we would be facing.”
Once the assessment of the home and flood damage was complete the Rainbow International of Lexington crew began to extract water from the basement and remove damaged carpet from the home.
“There was a lot of work that had to be done,” said Rainbow International of Lexington technician, Brent Mastin. “We couldn’t do everything that we had hoped to do at that time because so many other calls came in and some of our equipment was in use at other locations.”
The winter storm damaged the homes hardwood floors and furniture had to be taken to the dump.
“The damage was really hard to look at and see the loss. It was only things, and things can be replaced,” said King. “What was really great was the crew at Rainbow International cared and did all they could do under extreme circumstances. The professionalism of the Rainbow International crew made it a lot easier to deal with.”
