WASHINGTON — The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced that a study conducted by its education partner, Pearson, found that the demand for LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED AP) and LEED Green Association credentials is growing at a fast pace, according to a press release.

The study, which analyzed job postings across the United States between March 2013 and February 2014, saw a 46 percent growth in demand for these LEED credentials over the 12-month period, making it the highest demanded job skill across industries.

Pearson also conducted a secondary 90-day study which again found LEED credentials to be the highest demanded skill in job postings, this time in 59 percent of job postings.

“This figure tells a powerful story about the value that building-industry employers assign to knowledgeable, LEED-credentialed professionals,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair, USGBC. “LEED is a transformative force within the building sector, and every day, our network of more than 197,000 LEED APs and Green Associates are helping to advance the industry and push building projects to new heights of performance and resource efficiency.”

LEED credentials show that industry professionals are knowledgeable in current state of green building.
