FORT WORTH, TX — Steamatic Inc. recently awarded four students from around the country scholarships in honor of Lindy Berry, the former vice president of Steamatic who passed away in April 2014, according to a press release.

The scholarship program, which was announced earlier in 2014, aims to provide financial assistance to Steamatic franchisees, their children and grandchildren who are attending college or vocational school.

The first recipients of this scholarship are Laura Benoit from Steamatic of Red River Valley (Biology, Concordia College), Alayna Bootsma from Steamatic of Bradenton (Psychology, University of South Florida), Cody Doerfler from Steamatic of Colorado Springs (Refrigeration HVAC, IntelliTec College), and Ashley Timmermeyer also from Steamatic of Colorado Springs (Music and performing arts, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs).

Bill Sims, chairman of Steamatic said in the release, “We are very proud of this first group of scholarship recipients, and we know Lindy would have been, too. It means a great deal to us at Steamatic to be able to honor him in this way.”

Each scholarship winner will receive $1,000 toward their education.
