CALHOUN, GA — RAD Consultants recently released the findings of its study, which found that carpet decreased the environmental stressors in hospital environments more than terrazzo or rubber surfaces, according to a press release.

The study, “The Influence of Flooring on Environmental Stressors: A Comparative Study of Three Flooring Materials in a Healthcare Setting,” which was funded by Mohawk, will be published in its entirety in Health Environments Research & Design Journal (HERD) next spring.

The study was conducted in an older hospital that will soon be replaced by a new building, and hospital administration agreed to participate with the intention to use the study’s information when choosing flooring for the new hospital.

“Funding this study is a reflection of Mohawk’s commitment to understanding how flooring affects the end user’s experience,” said Kent Clauson, vice president of brand at Mohawk. “These insights will be used in the development of new products and help our customers select the right products for their needs.”
