WICHITA, KS, — Invista, the world’s largest integrated producers of polymers and fibers, primarily for nylon (including Nylon 6,6,), spandex and polyester applications, will invest more than $65 million to upgrade its Camden, South Carolina facility, according to a press release.
The investment comes in an effort to boost its Nylon 6,6 fiber capacity at the facility where it makes high-tenacity, specialty fibers for the Cordura brand of textiles. Nylon 6,6 is used in a wide range of products and applications including commercial products like hunting packs and outdoor apparel to military applications like ballistic vests and backpacks.
With the new expansion, the Invista facility will be capable of solution dyeing nylon products and manufacturing bulked continuous filament and high-quality fibers for industrial applications. In collaboration with industrial protective fabrics company Carrington, Invista has created durable, flame-retardant twill fabric.
