IICRC study investigates holiday stains

VANCOUVER, WA — The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) recently conducted an online study through Harris Poll which analyzed participants holiday stain and spill experiences, according to a press release.

At least two-thirds of American residences will experience a spill resulting in a spot or stain during the holiday season, according to the responses of the 2,014 adult participants.

Conducted from November 13-17, 2014, the study found a tie for the most common holiday-spilled substance, with 26 percent of participants reporting each chocolate and dyed-fruit drinks.

Other commonly-spilled substances during the holiday were:

  • Grease, 23 percent
  • Wine, 21 percent
  • Candle wax, 19 percent
  • Vomit, 18 percent
  • Beer, 16 percent
  • Gravy, 15 percent
  • Butter, 10 percent.
