BUFFALO, NY — Flood restoration professionals in the upstate New York area should be on prepared for major flooding, as snow in the area is beginning to melt during current rainstorms, according to an article from NBC News.

During the recent snow storms in mid-November, Buffalo and surrounding areas received as much as seven feet of snow.

Now as warm rainstorms enter the area, the snow is beginning to melt and expected to result in major flooding in the area.

"Flooding, in my opinion, is worse than dealing with snow," New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said. "It's not water. It's a toxic brew." Cuomo suggested some residents consider leaving their homes.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warned that snow-weakened trees and high winds could cause further damage to area homes and businesses.

NWS also added that colder temperatures will return by mid-week, bringing even more problems to the area.
