DALTON, GA — The Carpet and Rug Institute recently gave new products (solutions and equipment) to its Seal of Approval ( SOA ), according to a release.

The Prospector portable extractor from Jon-Don of Roselle, IL, received the SOA Bronze approval for carpet cleaning equipment. This test is performed by an independent laboratory.

For this SOA, CRI looks at the effectiveness of the equipment and deep cleaning from extractors without carpet damage. Extractors must meet the criteria in the following categories to receive the seal: 1) amount of residual moisture removed from the carpet from a wet cleaning process; 2) amount of soil removed from the carpet; 3) impact of the equipment on carpet fibers and appearance.

The Truck Mix in-tank solution from COIT Cleaning Services Inc. of Burlingame, CA, and S3 Solutions’ eSpot spot remover of Roswell, GA, received SOA certification in the spot removers, presprays and in-tank solutions category.

CRI tests applicants in this category for efficacy, resoiling, pH, optical brighteners and colorfastness to light.

With the new additions, CRI’s Seal of Approval program now boasts 397 solutions, 13 interim maintenance systems, 459 vacuums, 107 deep-cleaning extractors and 133 deep-cleaning systems.
