PALM BEACH, FL — The warm and humid climate of Florida is the perfect condition for mold growth, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Due to the relatively common nature of mold, Florida residents have often been the target of mold removal specialists who turned out to be nothing more than con artists, the article stated.

According to the article, Florida is offering consumers some protection in the form of a new law that requires mold specialists to be licensed.

"What this means now is that if you do an inspection on a job site, you are not allowed to do the remediation," said Michael Fadell, president of Jupiter-based U.S Mold.

Under the new law, companies can no longer perform both the mold testing or assessment and the remediation or removal on the same house, the article noted.

The law was enacted in 2010, with enforcement beginning in July 2011, the article added.
