There’s only one month remaining to apply for the International Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Council of Associations’ (IICRCA) scholarship program for North American IICRC Certified Firms!  IICRC

Good for up to $200, North American IICRC Certified Firms can apply for a scholarship to attend an IICRC-approved class or approved industry event.  The scholarship is good for up to halfthe tuition/registration costs of an IICRC-approved course. For example, if the class is $400 or more, you will receive the full $200 scholarship; if the class is $300, you will receive $150.

The IICRC is accepting applications from interested members for the S210 Standard for Dimension Stone Restoration, S220 Standard for Hard Surface Floor Covering Inspection, S300 Standard for Professional Upholstery Cleaning and the S540 Standard for Trauma and Crime Scene Cleanup. Legend Brands announces survey prize winners

BURLINGTON, WA — Legend Brands recently chose the three 2015 Cleanfax magazine Restoration Benchmarking Survey respondents who will receive prizes from the company.

Cleanfax thanks all those who took the time out of their busy schedules to partake in this important annual event, which allows restoration businesses across the country a chance to better plan and compare themselves to peers.

The results of the Restoration Benchmarking Survey Report can be found in the July Cleanfax print and digital editions as well as at Cleanfax.com.

The winners, each receiving a case of BotaniClean® antimicrobial cleaner and a Velo™ Pro airmover, include Chris Jeter of A-Town/Hi-Tech LP in Abilene, TX; Steven Hirmer of Signature Cleaners in Naperville, IL; and Scott Powell of Classic Fire and Water Restoration in Mesa, AZ.

Legend Brands also sent each survey respondent a 500-point Legend Rewards certificate, so they could join the 9,700 cleaning and restoration companies in banking rewards from their Legend Brands purchases.

Both Cleanfax and Legend Brands regularly conduct surveys to assess and analyze the restorative drying business climate and customer interest in new products and emerging technologies.


 

GSD Chem acquires Solutions by Steam Pros

EDDYSTONE, PA — GSD Chem Inc. officially completed acquisition of Solutions by Steam Pros.

“Solutions is known for their high-quality cleaning and protection solutions and is a perfect complement to our other specialty industrial cleaning products,” Dr. Heather Rayle, president of GSD Chem.

Solutions by Steam Pros, which manufactures cleaning, odor control and surface protection products for carpet, upholstery, fabrics and other surfaces, will now be headquartered at GSD Chem’s Eddystone facility. GSD Chem is a provider of specialty cleaning and lubrication formulations used in a variety of industries.

Rayle added, “We are pleased to have Solutions by Steam Pros join the GSD Chem family.”


 

Commercial Carpet Cleaning Symposium to follow The Experience

LAS VEGAS — The Commercial Carpet Cleaning Symposium, a learning opportunity for cleaners who perform or would like to perform commercial cleaning, will be held immediately following The Experience Convention and Trade Show in September.

The Symposium will occur during the evening of September 11, after the official end of The Experience, and all day September 12 at the Mirage Hotel and Casino.

The IICRC announces the newly revised ANSI/IICRC S100 Standard on Textile Floor Covering Cleaning and the IICRC S100 Reference Guide. What does that mean for you?IICRC

The first IICRC standard available in both print and electronic formats, the newly revised and updated S100 establishes minimum standards for professional on-location cleaning of installed textile floor coverings. In so doing, it acknowledges the critical role played by consumers in selecting and maintaining those floor coverings prior to the need for such professional cleaning.

For an overview of the newly revised S100, the IICRC held a live webinar and Q&A session to provide key insights on what you need to know. Response Team 1 hires VP

WHEELING, IL — Response Team 1 recently hired A.J. Novak vice president of sales and marketing.

Novak, who has more than two decades of experience in the sales and marketing field, will be manage revenue performance, sales strategy and brand enhancement, as well as direct the company's sales and marketing strategy and execution.

“With more than 20 years of sales and marketing leadership experience, A.J. is well-positioned to successfully lead our national marketing strategy and build the Response Team 1 brand,” said John M. Goense, chairman of Response Team 1. “He has successfully grown market share in existing and new markets both domestically and internationally.”

Novak, who holds a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Loyola University of Chicago, received advanced executive training in innovation and strategy at MIT's Sloan School of Management.

Most recently, Novak held the title of vice president of marketing and strategy development for BCR Environmental Corporation and previously spent more than 20 years with Waste Management Inc., including tenure as strategic business director.

Bridgewater names new manager

SALT LAKE CITY — Bridgewater has named Michael Adams as the new environmental health and safety manager.

At Bridgewater, Adams will oversee employee safety programs, environmental compliance programs and regulatory compliance; help mitigate risk during manufacturing operations; strengthen the company’s sustainable products; and work closely with R&D, manufacturing and Interlink Supply and Aramsco throughout the U.S.

Adams holds a Master’s degree in chemical engineering and previously worked for a global consumer products company in various positions, including regulatory affairs team lead and environmental regulatory affairs specialist.

“Michael’s character, experience and resume made him an excellent selection for this role, as he will uphold the strong values that Bridgewater maintains for its employees, such as integrity, purpose driven and the pursuit of perfection,” according to Jeff Jaloviar, vice president of operations for Bridgewater. “We look forward to Michael becoming an important member to the Bridgewater team as we work toward our goals of providing excellent products and customer services for all of Bridgewater’s brands and services.”

Bullen adds to sales team

FOLCROFT, PA — The Bullen Companies recently welcomed Bill Huss to its sales team as the new national sales manager.

Huss has over 15 years of experience with companies generating revenues of $5 million to $9 billion, including time as a regional sales manager for Bullen, and has worked as a distributor sales person, a distributor sales manager and a regional manager for a major chemical manufacturer.

In his new position, Huss will handle all sales responsibilities for The Bullen Companies. He currently is searching for additions to the Bullen sales team in specifically targeted areas.

Nilfisk-Advance changes name

PLYMOUTH, MN — Nilfisk-Advance officially has changed its corporate name and brand to Nilfisk.

“In changing our name, we are reducing complexity in our branding and simplifying our overall brand hierarchy to make it easier to understand for our end-customers and dealers across the world,” according to Nilfisk Group President and CEO Jonas Persson.

The change comes as an effort to better align the company's global product brands and increase customer brand awareness.

Along with the name change, Nilfisk will reveal a new visual identity in April, which will be reflected in the company's websites and marketing platforms.
