Dozens of homes damaged

PELETIER, NC — Winds from Tropical Depression Beryl spawned a tornado that destroyed four homes and damaged 64 more, according to MSNBC.

National Weather Service teams can confirm that it was a tornado that caused the damage, the article stated.

According to the article, on May 30, Beryl spawned a twister with 105 mile per hour (MPH) winds that blew off roofs and ripped up trees, but left no one injured.

Beryl is the second named tropical system of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, which began on June 1, the article noted.
