TROY, MI — Over 75 rug care professionals attended the two-day Centrum Force Rug Summit II, held on February 12-13, according to a press release.
According to the release, attendees participated in product demonstrations and lectures on various aspects of rug care and restoration, and the summit was an opportunity for professionals to share their experiences with Oriental rugs.
The summit featured presenters Jeff Jones and Thea Sand, both Certified Rug Specialists and members of the National Institute of Rug Cleaners, a division of the Restoration Industry Association (RIA), the release stated.
According to the release, the summit''s emphasis on area rug care, restoration and cleaning are due to the trend of hard surface flooring with area rugs becoming more popular than wall-to-wall carpeting.
Product demonstrations at the event included Centrum Force founders Greg Turcotte and Tom Monahan presenting their centrifugal rug wringer — called the Centri-Maxx — which removes 95 percent of water in just three minutes, as well as demonstrations of a portable Wolverine Rug Duster, a Centrum Star Rug Washing Tub and a 60-pole rug hanging system, the release noted.
The summit was hosted by Modernistic President Bob McDonald at his Rugology Center in Troy, Michigan, and videos and photos of the event are available on the Centrum Force website, the release added.
