The survey says
This year''s survey shows that the marketing arena continues to change and develop with more business owners taking advantage of electronic media.
Comparing data from 2010 — last year''s survey information — in the category of "Marketing methods to generate new customer leads", Yellow Page advertising dropped from 53 percent to 42 percent. Internet/Websites increased from 46 percent to 66 percent, a huge shift in how business owners are taking advantage of modern methods to reach more customers in their marketplace.
Of course, referrals remain king of new customer lead generation, with 96 percent responding indicating referral marketing as the best method to obtain new customers.
Most business owners take a "hands-on" approach in their companies, according to the survey. Seventy-seven percent of owners responding indicated they are actively involved in the physical labor of cleaning.
