Mohawk shells out $10 million

LANDRUM, SC — Mohawk Industries will expand one of its in South Carolina commercial carpeting facilities over the next 10 years, adding approximately 20 new jobs, according to an article in Area Development Online.

The company plans to invest $10 million with the aim of upgrading its looms and improving technology while maintaining a focus on sustainability.

Mohawk, who employs approximately 60 workers in Landrum and almost 1100 more throughout South Carolina, has been in the area for more than 50 years producing high-end woven contract commercial carpeting and aviation carpeting.

"By modernizing the looms at the Landrum facility, we can update the styling of the carpet we produce there and keep the business viable for the men and women at the facility,” Miles Wright, Vice President of Commercial Manufacturing for Mohawk Flooring, said. “This is a good investment for Mohawk and will help us remain the industry leader in high-end performance woven carpet.”
