Legend Brands acquired by RPM International

BURLINGTON, WA — Legend Brands Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bill Bruders has announced that RPM International has signed an agreement to purchase the Legend Brands family of companies, according to a press release.

Effective September 30, the Legend Brands companies, including Dri-Eaz ProductsProRestore Products and Sapphire Scientific, will become part of RPM2, a unit of RPM International, the release stated.

"The management team and I are very excited to become part of the RPM family. In terms of corporate culture and management philosophy, this a great fit. Being acquired by RPM will open many doors for us," said Bruders.

According to the release, under the sales agreement, Legend Brands will remain a stand-alone operation within RPM2 and will continue to be led by its existing management team and headed by Bruders.

RSA launches new online training

BURLINGTON, WA — Restoration Sciences Academy (RSA) has launched new online training for cleaning and restoration professionals, according to a press release.

RSA Online will be offering courses on a variety of cleaning and restoration topics, including water and fire damage restoration, microbial remediation, carpet and upholstery care, legal issues and more, the release stated.

According to the release, to launch the project, RSA is offering three sample courses for free.

"The business account system will be invaluable to restoration owners who want to offer convenient, low-cost training to their staff," said Brandon Burton, RSA technical education manager.

"It's an economical solution for introducing new employees to the industry, and an effective way for experienced staff to review and hone their professional skills," Burton added.

ServiceMaster hires CFO

MEMPHIS, TN — The ServiceMaster Company has announced the appointment of Roger A. Cregg as senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer (CFO), according to a press release.

Cregg joins ServiceMaster from PulteGroup Inc., the publicly-owned parent company of Pulte Homes Inc., one of the nation's largest homebuilders, the release stated.

According to the release, while at Pulte, Cregg's role expanded as he assumed additional responsibilities for information technology, international operations and mortgage and title operations.

"Roger brings a wealth of experience in guiding the financial operations of both private and public companies," said Hank Mullany, ServiceMaster's chief executive officer (CEO).

"His impressive track record at large, growth-oriented companies will be extremely valuable as we continue to establish ServiceMaster as a rapidly growing, best-in-class service provider," Mullany added.

IICRC creates Mold Removal Specialist certification program

VANCOUVER, WA — The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has announced the development of a certification exam for professionals in the mold remediation industry, according to a press release.

The Mold Removal Specialist (MRS) certification exam will certify that successful candidates meet all state required licensing requirements, the release stated.

According to the release, the MRS certification does not replace the current Applied Microbial Restoration Technician (AMRT) exam and is an additional level of certification.

The IICRC is currently seeking mold technicians and specialists to participate in a beta-test for this exam, the release noted.

Beta-testing is limited to 200 participants, and those participants will receive a discounted rate of $150 and, if passed, will be among the first to hold this certification, the release added.

"As the IICRC seeks to be the leading independent, non-profit certification and standard setting body within the industry, it is important we remain proactive throughout all new regulation and legislation changes, such as in the mold remediation industry," said Paul Pearce, IICRC chairman of the board.

The test is available for registration through October 14, 2011.

Paul Davis National names executive vice president of insurance services

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Paul Davis National has named John F. Fleming as executive vice president of insurance services, according to a press release.

Fleming will be responsible for overseeing the company's commercial insurance claims department and business development, the release stated.

According to the release, Fleming will be assisting insurance professionals with large loss projects in flooding, fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, wind damage and other catastrophic events.

Fleming joins the company to grow the commercial insurance lines in large loss work for the Paul Davis franchise, the release noted.

HydraMaster and U.S. Products add four new staffers

MUKILTEO, WA — HydraMaster and U.S. Products have announced they have filled four key positions within both divisions, according to a press release.

"This is one of the first things we started doing when I joined the company earlier this year," said Mickey McKee, head of sales and marketing for both HydraMaster and U.S. Products.

"After an exhaustive search, we have recruited four people who know our industry, know our end-customer and can help us build both divisions to a more prominent level," McKee added.

According to the release, the positions that have been filled are: Doyle Bloss, marketing and brand manager for HydraMaster/U.S. Products; Joe Verslui, national accounts nanager; Mark Baxter, product manager for HydraMaster/U.S. Products; and Ollie Nielson, Southeast regional manager.

"These additions to our team will be key to making both brands stronger and more aggressive and allow us to put more of our energy and focus on new, innovative solutions and quality products for our end customers," McKee noted.

ServiceMaster appoints chief information officer

MEMPHIS, TN — The ServiceMaster Company has announced the appointment of Linda Goodspeed as senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO), effective October 3, according to a press release.

Goodspeed joins the Memphis-based company from Nissan North America, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Nissan Motor Company, where she served as vice president of information systems and CIO, the release stated.

According to the release, Goodspeed managed a team of 1,500 employees and helped improve on-time IT project delivery from 44 percent to more than 95 percent.

"Linda's diverse experience in strategic and operational roles at large, global companies will help drive our IT initiatives as we grow ServiceMaster and transform our customers' experience," said Hank Mullany, ServiceMaster's chief executive officer (CEO).
